OUR YARN BASES
High Desert: Our original base, made of 50% Navajo Churro from Jay Begay (Navajo Nation, Arizona) and 50% Merino from Cactus Hill Farm (Southern Colorado). Available in worsted and fingering weight yarn and roving. This base is rustic and wooly.
High Desert 2: Our second base, made of 60% Merino from Cactus Hill Farm (Southern Colorado) and 40% Navajo Churro (Navajo Nation, Arizona) from Jay Begay. Softer than the original High Desert but just as strong and lustrous, it is available in worsted weight, roving, and rural/Indigenous handspun yarn. High Desert Heathered: Our third base, made of 50% Navajo Churro from Phil Singer, Jeanne Salt, and Lorena Noelson (Navajo Nation, Arizona) and 50% Merino from Cactus Hill Farm (Southern Colorado) is our first naturally colored yarn, blended to a beautiful grey. Overdyed in saturated jewel tones, it is available in worsted weight. Woven: is our first 100% Indigenous grown yarn, using Navajo Churro from the flocks of Phil Singer, Jeanne Salt, and Lorena Noelson all of the Navajo Nation, Arizona. A bulky single ply, this hard wearing yarn is perfect for woven rugs and tapestries. Arizona: Our Arizona Base is 2-ply DK weight yarn made from 100% Arizona-grown fiber. Comprised of 40% fine wool (CVM and Tunis) from Schafwolle Ranch, 40% alpaca from Peaceful Prairie Ranch, and 20% Kid Navajo Angora from Jay Begay, our Arizona Base is perfect for next-to-skin garments and accessories. |
